As a very talented and sought-after master teacher, somatic practitioner, and arts administrator Wendy Masterson is a movement specialist with over 35 years of experience. She is a certified BMCSM Practitioner and Somatic & Infant Developmental Movement Educator through the School for Body Mind Centering® and is certified in GYROTONIC® and as a Reiki Master. She is the owner of The Motion Space, LLC in Great Falls.
Wendy has a Master of Fine Arts in Dance and has worked with several prestigious educational organizations and professional dance companies. These include serving 25 years on the dance faculty/director at Interlochen Arts Academy (arts/academic boarding high school) where she created cross-disciplinary courses, integrated BMCSM into the arts curriculum and professional development events for faculty and administrators, and choreographed over 100 works; 15 summers as an administrator at President and Mrs. Ford’s Vail International Dance Festival working with an elite roster of international dancers, choreographers and pedagogics; 5 years as the Director of Program Development at Kinesthetic Learning Center (current); while owning private practices in Michigan, the Kinecetas Institute and now in Montana, The Motion Space. She is currently serving as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Body-Mind Centering Association.
As a leader in the field of dance pedagogy and artistry, Wendy has presented at the International Association of Dance, Medicine, & Science conferences in Washington, DC; Seattle, WA; and Basel, Switzerland on the integration of somatics with dance pedagogy and at the BMCA Annual Conference 2013 in Boulder, CO. She has published several articles on somatics, development, and education.
